Ecology Lab: Pan trap data set

Observations and data were collected at York University Keele campus in the grasslands and in the Boyers woodlot. Nine solo bowls filled with soapy water was placed in the grassland and nine placed in the woodlot in a transect approximately ½ a meter apart in distance. The solo bowls varied in color, blue, yellow and white bowls were placed at both sites to account for any influence the color of the bowl might have on the insects. In both sites the bowls were placed in areas near trees that were dense and very close together in proximity. The solo bowls were left undisturbed and touched for approximately three hours and the number of insects in each bowl was observed.
