The short survey looking back on the year 2023 was conducted by the Verian opinion research institute (formerly Kantar Public) on behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government. During the survey period from 29.11.2023 to 05.12.2023, the German-speaking population aged 14 and over in private households was surveyed in telephone interviews (CATI) on the following topics: satisfaction with political developments in Germany in selected policy areas, satisfaction with the work of the federal government and Chancellor Scholz, outlook for 2024 and priority topics. Respondents were selected using a multi-stage random sample as part of a multi-topic survey (Emnid bus) including landline and mobile phone numbers (dual-frame sample).<br>Satisfaction with political developments in Germany in selected policy areas (labor market policy, economic policy, foreign policy, health policy, education policy, domestic security, pension policy, family policy, financial policy, environmental policy, energy policy, refugee policy, agricultural policy, climate policy); satisfaction with the work of the federal government consisting of the SPD, Greens and FDP in 2023; satisfaction with the work of Chancellor Olaf Scholz in 2023; implementation of the resolutions from the 2021 coalition agreement; awareness of the government monitor of the federal government on the status of measures already implemented from the coalition agreement; outlook for 2024: Confidence or fears for the coming year with regard to political developments in Germany; issues that the federal government should pay more attention to in the coming year (open question, maximum 2 responses).
Demography: Sex; age; highest level of education; occupation; household size; number of people in the household aged 14 and over; party preference; eligibility to vote; net household income.
Additionally coded were: Sequential number; weighting factor; interview date; city size (BIK regions, political location size); federal state; survey area west/east; survey by mobile or landline.
