Challenges and Opportunities for the Growth and Sustainability of Retail Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Windhoek, Namibia

This dataset consists of 28 qualitative responses from participants engaged in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Windhoek, Namibia. The responses were collected through interviews and reflect the lived experiences of MSME owners regarding key operational challenges. Themes include access to finance, business registration hurdles, digital exclusion, lack of practical training, and the influence of cultural obligations on business sustainability. Each narrative provides insight into the layered socioeconomic and regulatory struggles MSMEs face, with repeated emphasis on the mismatch between policy frameworks and grassroots realities. The data offers rich, verbatim textual material suitable for qualitative coding, thematic analysis, and grounded theory research.
