Images of Antarctic Ice Shelves, Version 2

Images of Antarctic Ice Shelves is a data set created as part of an effort to closely monitor major ice streams and outlet glaciers along the Antarctic coast, with a focus on the ice shelves considered the most susceptible to rapid change due to climatic warming and those that occasionally calve major icebergs. This monitoring effort began using AVHRR 1 Km images from several NOAA polar-orbiting satellites, and later included MODIS images from both Terra and Aqua. The scenes are derived from either the visible or the thermal channels. AVHRR images are available from August 1989 to October 2001, while MODIS images are available from March 2000 to present. New images processed from the MODIS Level 1B Calibrated Radiances are provided every month.南极冰架影像数据集是为开展南极沿岸主要冰流与出口冰川的精细化监测而构建的专项数据集，监测重点涵盖两类冰架：一类是受气候变暖影响最易发生快速变化的冰架，另一类是偶尔会崩解大型冰山的冰架。该监测项目最初采用多颗NOAA极轨卫星的AVHRR 1千米分辨率影像，后续又补充纳入了Terra与Aqua卫星搭载的MODIS影像。所有影像均提取自可见光通道或热红外通道。AVHRR影像的时间覆盖范围为1989年8月至2001年10月，MODIS影像则自2000年3月起至今均可获取。基于MODIS 1B级定标辐射数据处理生成的新影像将按月更新发布。
