资源简介:
A field party from the University of Nebraska Laboratory of Anthropology conducted a surface reconnaissance in four potential reservoir areas in the Lower Platte Basin, Nebraska. The party, consisting of James H. Gunnerson and Dolores A. Gunnerson, spent twelve days in the field on this survey, between August 15 and September 2, 1948. The Laboratory of Anthropology undertook this reconnaissance in an attempt to locate archeological remains in potential reservoir areas in the Missouri Valley. Reservoirs explored by this Laboratory party included Cushing, Loretto, Plum Creek, and Rosedale. The purpose of this report is to provide information relative to the archeological resources which will be destroyed if these reservoirs are created. This appraisal of the archeological resources in the above named reservoir areas supplements the Preliminary Appraisal of the Archeological and Paleontological Resources of Certain Proposed Reservoir Areas in the Lower Platte Sub-Basin. Nebraska, prepared by the River Basin Surveys of the Smithsonian Institution
2 and issued in September, 1947.This preliminary report contained a geographical description of the Lower Platte Basin, as well as appraisals of the Amherst, Bison (then called Buffalo Creek), Cairo,Pibel (then called Ericson), Mullen, and Rockville Reservoir areas.
