Atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) vertical profiles (temperature, humidity, wind) were measured with remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) over sea ice covered Weddell Sea. Measurements were carried out during the R/V Polarstern winter cruise, June-August 2013. The measurements of the ABL were complemented by observations from a 2 m automatic weather station, deployed on the sea ice during ice stations. In addition, two automatic ice mass balance buoys were deployed and left in the ice.
