Discovery of a beta Carboline Derivative as a Novel Therapeutic Agent for Pulmonary Hypertension

We demonstrated that a beta carboline derivative can effectively inhibit the development of rat pulmonary hypertension for the first time. Since pulmonary hypertension is an incurable disease, the beta carboline derivative may be a potential clinical drug for this group. This is due to the fact that one of its targets, pyruvate kinase isozyme 2, is involved in metabolic reprogramming, pro-proliferative, and inflammatory stimuli.
