This study investigates biogeography of Rhodopirellula baltica, ‘Rhodopirellula europaea’ and ‘Rhodopirellula islandica’ in European intertidal sediments employing amplification and Illumina MiSeq sequencing of acetyl-CoA synthetase (acsA) gene. Nested PCR primers were designed to target specifically those three species of Rhodopirellula.
