ABSTRACT This paper develops and evaluates a propulsion concept that uses magnetically enhanced solar radiation pressure for continuous spacecraft acceleration across interstellar distances. The Solar Magnetic Effect Lens (SMEL) system proposes concentrating photon momentum via magnetic-plasma lensing and staged constructive reflection, enabling acceleration and deceleration at successive stars without propellant. Preliminary calculations suggest that, if lensing magnification is sufficiently efficient, transit velocities of 10– 20% of light speed may be achievable.
