Understanding the response of soil respiration to rapid rewetting and the interaction with temperature is critical in drylands where climate change scenarios predict an increase in temperatures and rains are expected to be more irregular. Differences in environmental variables and soil properties can also mediate the soil respiration response. We evaluated the effect of high temperatures on soil respiration pulses occurred after rapid rewetting, and the influence of climate and soil characteristics in the response. With this purpose, we incubated soil samples from three different locations differing in soil properties and environmental variables. These data correspond to a 16S rRNA gene amplicons Illumina analysis of the microbial communities of the soils.
