<i>Whitmania pigra</i> is a widely distributed non-bloodsucking macrophagous freshwater leech found in East Asia, with an annual consumption of nearly 1,000 tons of dry bodies for curing blood stasis syndrome.<br> Here we present the genome, which has an estimated genome size of 181.4Mb, scaffold N50 of 16.2Mb, contig N50 of 50.4Mb and 18,540 genes. This dataset includes the following data: repetitive sequences, gene and functional annotations, annotation of ncRNAs, prediction of secreted proteins, divergence time & transcriptome analysis.
