Lachnospiraceae as a probiotic to recover the lost capacity for fiber digestion and improve immune status in mammals

Lachnospiraceae demonstrates a remarkable ability to digest fiber, thereby stimulating immune responses within the gut, particularly through the activation of B cells and the production of immunoglobulin, fostering the development of adaptive immunity. Additionally, we showed that it reduces inflammation by increasing acetic acid synthesis and suppressing TNF. These findings demonstrated that Lachnospiraceae is a potential probiotic for improving immune status in pigs. Our results also yield valuable insight into the modulation of the gut microbiota for improving the westernized diet metabolic syndrome in humans.
