资源简介:
This repository contains the geospatial datasets used to generate the maps presented in Figure 1, Figure 2 and Supplementary Material S4 of the manuscript:“Transboundary Animal Diseases and Human Migration: A One Health Perspective on the Balkan Route.”The dataset supports the spatio-temporal analysis of epidemic trends of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) and Sheep and Goat Pox (SGPX) in South-Eastern Europe during the period 2014–2025, and their visual comparison with major human migration routes across the Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean corridors. All spatial layers are provided in GeoJSON or TIFF format (prepared and visualized in QGIS v. 3.34) and are intended for use in QGIS or other GIS software.🗺️ Spatial reference systemAll vector layers are projected in WGS 84 / Pseudo-Mercator (EPSG:3857) to ensure consistency with web-based basemaps and visualization tools.📊 Outbreak datasetsThe repository includes both cumulative and non-cumulative outbreak layers for animal diseases:Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)NONcumulative_Outbreaks_PPR.geojsoncumulative_Outbreaks_PPR.geojsonSheep and Goat Pox (SGPX)NONcumulative_Outbreaks_SGPX.geojsoncumulative_Outbreaks_SGPX.geojsonOutbreak data were retrieved from the World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS) of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and aggregated at sub-regional level. For visualization, layers are intended to be displayed using graduated symbols, where symbol size is proportional to the number of reported outbreaks. For the layer cumulative_Outbreaks_SGPX.geojson, the attribute field corrected_cases was used. This field excludes outbreak counts originating from epidemiological events reported prior to 2014, ensuring temporal consistency with the study period (2014–2025).🚶 Migration routesThe repository includes raster layers representing major migration corridors:WesternBalkan_route.tifEasternMed_route(land).tifEasternMed_route(sea).tifMigration routes were georeferenced from non-GIS maps provided by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and used as background layers to visually assess spatial overlaps between epidemic patterns and human mobility corridors.📘 Additional documentationREADME.txtProvides a concise overview of the dataset structure, data sources, coordinate reference system, and visualization guidelines.🎯 Intended useThis dataset is intended for:spatial epidemiologydisease surveillanceOne Health analysesvisual exploration of interactions between animal disease spread and human migration routesThe data can be reused for exploratory mapping, comparative studies, or educational purposes, provided that appropriate citation of the original data sources (WOAH-WAHIS and IOM) and the associated manuscript is ensured.
