The statistic shows the per capita consumption of chocolate confectionery worldwide in 2015, by key markets. In Switzerland, the per capita consumption of chocolate products amounted to 8.8 kilograms in that year. In contrast, consumption of chocolate in China amounted to only 200 grams per capita that year.Several Swiss companies are among the leading chocolate producers in the world. In 2016, chocolatier and confectionary company Lindt & Sprüngli generated global sales of approximately 3.9 trillion Swiss franks (approximately 3.83 trillion U.S. dollars as of December 2016). Global chocolate sales of food and beverage processor Nestlé S.A. amounted to approximately 6.27 billion Swiss franks (approximately 6.15 billion U.S. dollars as of December 2016) in 2016, while their sugar confectionary sector generated a further 1.11 billion Swiss franks (approximately 1.09 billion U.S. dollars as of December 2016) in sales that year.
