The Global CMT Catalog is a global seismic moment tensor catalog database operated by the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) of Columbia University. It systematically determines the seismic moment tensors of global earthquakes with magnitude M > 5, and rapidly determines the moment tensor results for earthquakes with magnitude M > 5.5. The catalog contains over 25,000 seismic moment tensor records since 1976, and is a research project funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation.
