York University Grasslands- Dandelion Study

The York University grassland was used to collect data on the abundance, height, leaf and flower count of dandelions. Transect tape was randomly placed and was used to measure the location of the plants. Distance was measured by locating the target plant species and recording the value on the transect. Once the target plant species was located the total number of leaves and flowers was also recorded by counting the leaves and flowers. All of the 50 samples found did not have any flowers as they have reached the end of their growth season. The height of the plant was measured using a ruler and recording the distance between the stem of the plant and the start of the leaves. Cover was estimated by observing the immediate nearby area of the sample plant and was recorded as a value between 0 and 3, with 0 representing no plants, 1 indicating few plants nearby, 2 representing quite a few plants, and 3 indicating that the sample plant was crowded by other plants.
