Puya are endemic species in the Andes, distributed in paramo and subparamo environments. The genus is a striking example to study rapid radiation recently. Twelve chloroplast genomes of Puya species were uploaded here, representing nine species of P. nitida, P. santosii, P. goudotiana, P. hamata, P. ferruginea, P. macrura, P. macropoda, P. hutchisonii, and P. raimondii. It was used for chloroplast genome feature, genomic evolution, phylogeny, and divergence time inferring among genus Puya.
