Dataset of Aedes albopictus surveillance in Cyprus (2022–2024)

This repository contains mosquito surveillance data collected using BG Sentinel™ traps baited with BG-Lure®, including species identification and sex categorization (female, male, and total counts for Aedes albopictus), as well as statistical outputs related to factors influencing mosquito abundance. The dataset was used to investigate the seasonal dynamics and spread of Ae. albopictus in Cyprus between 2022 and 2024, focusing on locations where the species was first reported through citizen observations. This represents the first study examining the seasonal dynamics of Ae. albopictus in Cyprus and highlights the importance of targeted mosquito management strategies and active citizen participation in monitoring and control efforts.
