Comparative Genomics of Opportunistic Phialophora Species Connecting Various Disease Types in Black Fungi

In the present study we sequenced 28 genomes of strains of the six sibling species in the Phialophora verrucosa complex known to date. Wecompare agents of different disease types among each other to reveal eventual genetic parameters associated with the behavior in vivo. With a similar approach, genetic profiles are searched which are shared by fungi associated with CARD9 immunodeficiency which are lacking in common opportunists in patients with intact CARD9.
