NRS-19420 | Registers of goods rolling stock

This series is Registers of Goods Stock built for service on NSW Government Railways. The Registers list goods stock built between approximately 1877 and 1927. Entries are numbered progressively from 1-24000 (entry numbers range from 1-22517 and 22539-22578).The Registers contain the following headings: progressive number; class and description; built (date); tare; inside measurement; carrying capacity; number of wheels; brake gear; total cost; maker's name; remarks.The remarks column contains such information as date rolling stock condemned, converted, renumbered, replaced etc.Custody HistoryFrom 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an in house archives consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the State Rail Archives the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R259. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R259 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.

保管历史（Custody History）
1955年至2000年间，新南威尔士州铁路局（State Rail Authority of New South Wales）维护了一套内部档案库，收纳该局、其前身机构以及政府接管的私营铁路公司的档案记录，档案时间跨度为1849年至2000年。当新南威尔士州铁路局档案馆关停时，馆藏中符合州档案馆收录要求的部分被移交至新南威尔士州档案管理局（State Records Authority of NSW）。这批档案系列被纳入州档案管理体系的档案序列系统并重新编号。本系列原属于新南威尔士州铁路局档案馆馆藏，当时标识为系列R259；在该局档案馆期间，其编号均为R259，且此前新南威尔士州铁路局档案馆的研究人员、相关出版物或未刊作品中可能均以此编号引用该档案。
