Biodiversity of honeybee gut microbiome

Honeybees (Apis mellifera) are one of the most essential pollinating insect species worldwide. The health status of honeybees has become an essential concern in many countries. The importance of the gut microbiota in regulating honeybee health has become increasingly evident in recent years. Unfortunately, different factors can affect the gut microbiome and cause different disorders. It is believed that the ecological conditions and geographic location of Armenia led to the development of unique associations, and symbiosis in the gastrointestinal tract of honeybees. No results have been reported on the investigation of the bacterial composition of the microbiota in the gastrointestinal tract of Armenian honeybees. Therefore, the aim of this work is the investigation of the gut microbiome of Armenian honeybees and the detection of the effect of different seasons and insecticides on the microbiome composition during the different development stages.
