Our study examined transcriptional responses of maize (Zea mays) to the generalist herbivore Tetranychus urticae (the two-spotted spider mite). Spider mite resistant lines B96 and B75 were used, along with susceptible B73. The data associated with this figshare release contain input or output files for the bioinformatics workflow released on the following Github site: https://github.com/rmclarklab/Zmays_cis_trans. The project is described in a manuscript titled “Concerted cis and trans effects underpin heightened defense gene expression in multi-herbivore resistant maize lines” by Meiyuan Ji, Huyen Bui, Ricardo A. Ramirez, and Richard M. Clark. Provided are SNP-corrected genomes for B96 and B75 and associated gene expresssion data. The large files are provided in a compressed tar archive, and a README file (README.txt included in the archive) describes each file in the archive. As described on the Github site and in the manuscript, associated DNA-seq and RNA-seq read data are publicly available from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Sequence Read Archive (SRA) under PRJNA771871 and PRJNA478866, respectively.
