The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school.These volumes contain information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any occupation entered into on leaving school are also recorded; this last column is also used to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission. These entries are numbered consecutively, with separate numbering sequences for boys and for girls commencing at the beginning of each volume. This arrangement is abandoned after 1957; thereafter boys and girls are recorded on the same page (except in 1964, when the record briefly reverts to the earlier system), and new numbering sequences, albeit brief ones, start with each new school year.The present series is represented by a single volume, the last of the series. This volume was written up retrospectively at some time between the 24th March, 1948 and the 14th September of the same year, evidently in order to have all pupils currently enrolled at that time recorded in the new volume. The enrolment at this point consisted of seven boys and sixteen girls, the earliest of whom had been admitted to the school on the 12th March, 1939. The last recorded admission is dated the 9th September, 1969, at which point the total enrolment at the school was eight boys and two girls; the volume is then initialed by the Inspector on the 13th November of that year, approximately a month before the school closed.
