资源简介:

This repository contains the data and code used for the analysis of the following publication: Lianas enhance microclimate buffering in tropical forests. Kasper Coppieters, Marco D. Visser, Hans Verbeeck, Stefan A. Schnitzer, Emma Van de Walle, Pieter De Frenne, Félicien Meunier. Agricultural and Forest Meteorology. Any use of this dataset should cite the paper above (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License). Contact: kasper.coppieters@ugent.be ================================================ Dataset + Paper analysis================================================ General: The Microclimate data was collected in the liana removal experiment on Gigante Peninsula, part of the Barro Colorado Nature Monument (09°07′ N, 79°51′ W) using TOMST TMS-4 dataloggers. We installed 180 TOMST TMS-4 loggers across all plots of the liana removal experiment using a stratified random design. Each plot was divided into nine 20 × 20 m subplots, and loggers were installed at predefined random locations in each subplot. Each TMS-4 logger records temperature at three heights: near-surface air (15 cm above ground), surface (2 cm above ground), and soil (8 cm depth). It also measures soil moisture of the top 15 cm soil layer via time-domain transmission. Loggers were set to record data every 15 minutes. Full details of the methods can be found in the publication mentioned above (once published). Datasets:The data can be found under 01_Data and consists of several folders: A folder Raw_data, which contains all the raw data used in this publication. More information can be found in the enclosed ReadMe file. A folder Cleaned_data, which contains all the cleaned datasets that were used for the statistical analyses. The processing scripts and model outputs can be found under folders 1_Preprocessing and 2_Processing. 1_Preprocessing: This folder contains all preprocessing scripts, including the script to determine the conversion curve to convert SMC to VWC. 2_Processing: Contains all main processing scripts for the different methods used in the paper. Intro+methods: Contains scripts to produce the figure in the methods of the paper and the calculation of the mean temperature on BCI. Slope: Contains all scripts, Bayesian models, model diagnostics and figures derived using the slope method. Offset: Contains all scripts, Bayesian models, model diagnostics and figures derived using the offset method. GAMM: Contains all scripts, Bayesian models, model diagnostics and figures derived using the GAMM method. VWC: Contains all scripts, Bayesian models, model diagnostics and figures related to the soil moisture models. Soil_respiration: Contains the script and the offset model used to determine the potential impact of lianas on the soil respiration. The final output files used in the paper can be found in 3_Final_output and include both tables and figures. ================================================ Funding================================================ The Gigante liana removal project was supported by US National Science Foundation grants DEB 08-45071, DEB 10-19436, IOS 15-58093, DEB 18-22473, and DEB 20-01799. We thank M.M. Garcia, S. Valdes, A. Valdes, B. Bernal, F. Bernal, S. Peréz, and A. Aguilar for their continuous contributions to, and censuses of, the Gigante liana removal experiment. During the research, KC was funded by the Flemish Research Council (FWO) with grant number G002321N. During the preparation of this manuscript, FM was funded by the FWO as a senior postdoc and is thankful to this organisation for its financial support (FWO grant no.1214723N).
