Transient snow line altitudes of glaciers in the European Alps from multi-mission remote sensing data (2000-2025)

This dataset contains SNOW LINE ALTITUDES (SLA) of glaciers in the European Alps with an area of more than 1 km². SLAs were measured from optical remote sensing data acquired between 2000-01-01 and 2025-12-31 in Google Earth Engine (https://github.com/cr-sommer/snowy-glaciers). Surface classification is based on automated image- and glacier-specific thresholding of infrared brightness histograms. Three different datasets are provided: Glacier-specific SLA time series of glaciers in the European Alps End-of-Summer (EoS) SLAs derived from SLA time series and multi-annual change trends Spatial masks (polygon and line features) of 1. and 2. All SLA observations are based on glacier outlines of the Randolph Glacier Inventory Version 7.0 (https://www.glims.org/RGI/). Glacier IDs refer to the rgi_id attribute of the RGI7.0.
