In situ marine plankton holographic image dataset

The dataset contains cropped images of plankton from processed holograms. Raw images were recorded using the HOLOCAM - asubmersible digital holographic imaging system - in September 2015 in Eastsound, Washington, USA.The resolution of the images are 4.58 microns per pixel.One of the datasets ("AqQua_dataset_labelled.zip") is manually classified into 14 groups with a "decoy" category which includes dinoflagellates, particles, etc.Labelled dataset includes the following 14 categories: Aggregate, Appendicularian, Dactyliosolen fragilissimus/Lauderia annulata cf., Chaeotoceros concavicornis, Chaetoceros debilis, Chaetoceros curvicetus/Eucampia zodiacus, Chaetoceros socialis,Copepod, Coscinodiscus sp., Ditylum brightwellii, Decoy, Diatom sp. (unIDed), Marine Snow and Thalassiosira sp. The remaining datasets are unlabelled and from ten different stations (instrument vertically profiled through the water column).Each folder has a .csv file containing metadata information including the following: time, location (coordinates), depth, salinity and temperature recorded by a CTD mounted a few cm offset from the field of view.Additional details of the field work, the imaging instrument and the holographic methodology can be found here: doi: 10.1002/lno.10618
