We propose to time a high Galactic latitude millisecond pulsar, J1947-18, which was previously identified as isolated. Recently, during the re-processing of Parkes archival data (Project code: P1059), we found that this pulsar is in a binary system. This pulsar was originally discovered in archival data of the intermediate and high Galactic latitude parts of the Southern High Time Resolution Universe pulsar survey and have rotational period of 2.60 ms and DM of 25 pc cm-3. Here we propose make use of Parkes non-Galactic observing time and confirm the nature of this potential binary and measure its spin and orbital parameters. This information could lead to new opportunities of measuring neutron star mass, testing gravitational theories, and MSPs formation channels at high galactic latitudes.
我们提出对一颗高银纬毫秒脉冲星(millisecond pulsar, MSP)J1947-18开展计时观测,该脉冲星此前被判定为孤立脉冲星。近期,在对帕克斯(Parkes)档案数据(项目代码:P1059)进行再处理的过程中,我们发现该脉冲星实际处于双星系统之中。该脉冲星最初是在“南方高时间分辨率宇宙脉冲星巡天”的银纬中等及高纬度区域的档案数据中被发现的,其自转周期为2.60 ms,色散量(dispersion measure, DM)为25 pc·cm⁻³。在此我们申请使用帕克斯望远镜的非银河观测时间,以确认该候选双星系统的本质,并测量其自转与轨道参数。相关研究成果将为测量中子星质量、检验引力理论,以及探究高银纬区域毫秒脉冲星的形成渠道提供全新的机遇。
