Mycobacterium ulcerans Agy99. This organism causes Buruli ulcer and is the third most common mycobacterial pathogen after Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium leprae. The disease has increased dramatically through central and West Africa since the late 1980s. A whole genome shotgun approach was used for sequencing this strain. Three libraries were constructed (2-3kbp, 3-5kb and 5-10kbp) using the vector pCDNA2.1. The assembly was scaffolded using a large insert library (60-120kbp) with pBeloBAC11.
