Replacement of antibiotic growth promoter. Potentiality of phytobiotics to counter prevalent bacteria vis-a-vis to replace use of antibiotics in poultry

Use of antibiotic in diet, dense poultry population helps in generation and transmission of antibiotic resistance genes among the bacteria within and between the flocks. These resistant microbes, if disseminated into the consumers, diminish the activity of wide-spectrum antibiotics, creating major therapeutic difficulties in treatment of the patients. The proposed project is aimed to develop phytobiotics from locally available resources which could be recommended to use as replacement of antibiotic growth promoter in the poultry ration. Evaluation of the developed phytobiotics for their antimicrobial activity against local bacterial isolates and their role in growth performance of broiler chicken by addition in the diet will be performed.
