This dataset comprises neuroimaging data from 86 adults and children while reading Chinese passages from four fairy tale stories by Hans Christian Andersen. Each story was presented as a single block of 10 sentence trials. fMRI data were acquired using a Siemens PRISMA 3-Tesla scanner at the Imaging Center for Brain Research, Peking University. The preprocessing using the SPM12 standard pipeline included: slice timing, motion correction, coregistration of structural and functional images, segmentation, and spatial normalization.The data can be used to investigate brain mechanisms during naturalistic reading of fairy tale stories.
