Bacterial communities in marine sponges in Bidong Island, Terengganu. Marine Sponges

Sponge is associated with a lot of microbial diversity as it is a filter feeder organism that filters thousand liters of water per day. Early works have indicated that sponges uptake non-selective particles and usually take prokaryotic microorganisms as their food. Thus by screening bacteria composition in sponges, we believe that new discovery of bacteria that carries valuable genes which benefits the environment would be discovered.
