Characterization of fungal communities in the rhizosphere of Actinidia deliciosa and Ficus carica

This work aimed to characterize the fungal communities in the rhizosphere of Actinidia chinensis var. deliciosa plants affected by KVDS (Kiwifruit Vine Decline Syndrome) and of Ficus carica plants used as replacements in an old Actinidia plantation that had been removed due to the syndrome. By studying the two microbiomes at two different time points in the growing season, we assessed the ability of fig plants to reshape rhizosphere microbial communities and promote the presence of beneficial microorganisms.
