H (high) = highly aggressive disease form, second-line approved therapies (natalizumab or fingolimod); M (moderate) = moderately aggressive disease, first-line approved therapies (interferon beta or glatiramer acetate); L (low) = scarcely aggressive or L (B) “benign” disease, no therapy. The “benign” forms of MS are characterized by no disease progression/activity without specific disease-modifying treatments for more than 10 years. Patients are ranked based on the clinical category to 5 years follow-up (fu).
