Microbial contamination impedes successful biological and biomedical researches. To assess the contaminant presence, next-generation sequencing (NGS) offers promising diagnostic approaches. To validate the performance of NGS-based contamination detection, we prepared cells by culturing with and without antibiotics treatments and by adding viable spike-in microbes.
