The painting is depicted from the northwest corner of the intersection. The one-story building has a covered veranda on at least two sides. The house is surrounded by trees. At this house Don Antonio and his wife, Mariana, entertained Mrs. Helen Hunt Jackson and gave her the story of the hardships of the removal of the Temecula Indians from their good fields to the rocky canyon of Perchanga. This story caused Jackson to write the novel, Ramona.
