Parkes observations for project P1059 semester 2020APRS_06

We propose to observe a sample of 22 pulsars at high Galactic latitudes with the Parkes Ultra-Wideband Low (UWL) receiver. This sample of pulsars does not have flux densities nor polarisation measured before. The goal is to characterise their wideband properties in polarisation, spectrum and interstellar scintillation. Such properties will help us develop imaging pulsar search techniques for future radio continuum surveys, such as with the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP). Wideband spectrum, polarisation and scintillation of pulsars will also be useful for studies of pulsar radiation mechanism and interstellar medium at high Galactic latitudes.

我们提议利用帕克斯（Parkes）超宽频低波段（Ultra-Wideband Low, UWL）接收机，对22颗处于银道面高纬区域的脉冲星样本开展观测。该样本中的脉冲星此前均未被测量过流量密度与偏振特性。本研究的目标是表征它们在偏振、频谱以及星际闪烁方面的宽频特性。这类特性将助力我们研发适用于未来射电连续谱巡天的成像脉冲星搜寻技术，例如依托澳大利亚平方千米阵列探路者（Australian SKA Pathfinder, ASKAP）开展的巡天项目。脉冲星的宽频频谱、偏振特性与星际闪烁数据，也将服务于银道面高纬区域的脉冲星辐射机制及星际介质相关研究。
