Metataxonomic analysis by 454 pyrosequencing performed to evaluate the correlation between gut microbiota composition and presence of S. cerevisiae or other fungal isolates in fecal samples of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients. The study aims to understand the impact of gut fungal community (mycobiome) on host's immune system and the interaction with microbiota and provides useful insights on the role of intestinal fungi in health and disease.
