NRS-13213 | Papers relating to the case McNab v The Sheriff

These are original, and copies of, documents relating to a court action taken out against the then Sheriff, Charles Cowper, by the official assignee in a bankruptcy case, Francis McNab. The charge was the misconduct of the Sheriff's officer at Bathurst: he was accused of placing an excessive levy on the effects of the bankrupt Edgard Hoard, storekeeper. He also failed to either advertise or conduct the sale of these effects correctly, and had removed goods and damaged property illegally. The papers were evidently sent to the Sheriff by the Crown Solicitor. (19/18317 part). 1 box (part).
