Altered gut microbiota in toll-like receptor 5 deficient mice. mouse gut metagenome

Cecal contents of C57Bl6 mice that were wildtype or deficient in toll-like receptor 5 (T5KO). T5KO mice are deficient in toll-like receptor 5, which recognizes flagellin, the primary motility protein in bacteria, and show symptoms of metabolic syndrome and obesity. The gut microbiota are sufficient to transfer the metabolic phenotype to previously healthy germ-free wildtype recipients. We sequenced the 16S rRNA genes from the ceca of T5KO (n=5) and wildtypes (n=4) chosen from separate litters by pyrosequencing.
