Structural and functional genomics of P. persica is being studied by consortium of laboratories from US and Europe. Large numbers of ESTs from fruit, shoot and seed tissues of P. persica have been sequenced at Clemson University in collabration with NC State University, University of California, Davis, USDA Appalachian Fruit Research Station, USDA-ARS FT. Detrick, and laboratories in France, Spain, and Czech Republic. The National Science Foundation has funded the creation of GDR|Genome database for Rosaceae consisting of peach EST data, genetically anchored peach physical map and other Rosaceae maps and sequences.
