资源简介:

As the 2030 deadline for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approaches, institutions are increasingly expected to demonstrate how their work contributes to sustainable development. Although universities are visible in this discussion, the outreach role of academic libraries remains less examined. This study analyzes how the outreach initiatives of the University of the Philippines (UP) Libraries translate the SDGs into concrete local action while fulfilling the University’s public service mandate. Using qualitative document analysis, the study reviewed outreach documentation from six UP academic units covering 2015-2025. It identified 26 library-led initiatives and mapped each activity to direct and indirect SDG alignments based on its objectives, activities, and target beneficiaries. The counts represent documented SDG alignments rather than measures of program impact. Findings show the strongest alignments with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), with additional contributions to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). Through learning support, resource provision, outreach, and partnerships, UP Libraries extend information services to underserved communities and localize the 2030 Agenda through grounded acts of education, equity, resilience, and collaboration.
