The study aims to achieve a telomere-to-telomere genome assembly of Talaromyces purpureogenus strain ISA502, a beneficial fungus isolated from corn rhizosphere soil in Pavia, Italy. Conducted as part of the PRIMA-SIRAM project, this research seeks to provide a complete and detailed genetic blueprint of the strain, enabling a deeper understanding of its metabolic pathways, plant-associated traits, and secondary metabolite biosynthesis. The high-quality genome assembly will facilitate the identification of genes involved in plant-microbe interactions, stress tolerance, and biocontrol potential. The findings have significant implications for advancing sustainable agriculture by promoting plant health, improving soil quality, and exploring the biotechnological potential of T. purpureogenus in line with EU environmental and agricultural innovation goals.
