mRNA samples were collected from the pericarp of cucumber (Cucumis sativus) fruit at various stages post pollination (0, 4, 8, 12 and 16 days). cDNA sequence was obtained using the Roche/454 GS-FLX instrument and a transcriptome shotgun assembly created. Expression was estimated by counting reads from each development stage contributed to each assembled transcript. Shifts in expression patterns at various stages of early fruit development may provide better understanding of the biomolecular processes occurring at each stage.
