Explore maps as you read a comic book

This repository contains three documents accompanying the article 'Explore maps as you read a comic book. The first document compiles several types of breaks encountered in various pan-scalar maps. Each type is also assigned a progression note after an analysis of their effects on the user. The next table illustrates an example of good generalisation for each of the hydrographic patterns observed in the article. This generalisation is based on three key concepts of progressivity, promoting a continuity of meaning, coherence, and rhythm. The final document represents a scale master inspired by the methodology of (Brewer and Buttenfield, 2007). In the article, we demonstrate how to adapt it to pan-scalar maps to better visualize sequences, as well as two types of rhythms: map cadence and abstraction cadence.本仓库包含配套于论文《像阅读漫画般探索地图》的三份文档。首份文档汇总了各类全域尺度地图（pan-scalar maps）中出现的多种断裂类型，并在分析其对使用者的影响后，为每种类型附加了演进说明。次份文档以表格形式展示了本文中观测到的各类水文形态模式的优质概化示例，该概化方案基于三大核心概念：渐进性、意义连续性、一致性与韵律性。末份文档为受（Brewer与Buttenfield，2007）研究方法启发而构建的尺度主控模板。本文中，我们阐述了如何将该模板适配至全域尺度地图，以更好地实现序列数据的可视化，同时还介绍了两类韵律：地图韵律（map cadence）与抽象韵律（abstraction cadence）。
