Files Associated with CM1 Simulations for "Transport to the Extratropical Stratosphere by Overshooting Storms in Idealized Simulations"

This repository includes edited CM1 code used for the simulations in "Transport to the Extratropical Stratosphere by Overshooting Storms in Idealized Simulations" submitted to the Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres. The following Fortran code was edited: solve3.F: Changes to the mixing ratios of water vapor and all hydrometeor species in the stratosphere were turned off during the first 40 minutes of the simulation (time requirement assigned to 'var20' in namelist.input) init3d.F: Passive tracers were initialized within vertical velocity cores during model restarts. The tracers initially get placed within a box extending 10 km in the east-west plane from the location assigned to 'var8' in namelist.input, 10 km in the north-south plane from the location assigned to 'var9' in namelist.input, and 5 km in the vertical from the altitude assigned to 'var10' in namelist.input. restart_read.F: Tracer is removed from any region within the 10 x 10 x 5 km box defined in init3d.F where vertical velocity does not exceed the threshold stored in 'var13' of namelist.input. Also included are the namelists for all simulations with varied grid spacing and the input_sounding file used to define the vertical structure of pressure, potential temperature, water vapor mixing ratio, and horizontal wind components at each grid point.
