Electronic structure study of magnetic Kagome material YbFe6Ge6

Due to magnetism, topological properties, electron correlations, and their interplay, magnetic Kagome materials are attracting attention as a platform to explore exotic quantum phases. Recent studies on the correlated Kagome magnet FeGe exemplify this interplay-driven phenomenon, revealing an unprecedented CDW order. In this proposal, we aim to investigate the electronic structure of another correlated Kagome magnet YbFe6Ge6 using the combination of ARPES and DFT calculations. While sharing similarities in electronic and magnetic structures with FeGe, the presence of Yb atoms provides structural differences along the c-axis. Our phonon dispersion calculation for YbFe6Ge6 at low temperature indicates a lattice instability near the A point, suggesting potential lattice distortion along c-axis due to CDW order. With comprehensive understanding of the electronic structure of YbFe6Ge6 measured with AREPS, we hope to establish it as a unique Kagome magnet with lattice instability and further provide valuable insights into the roles of lattice, charge, and spin orders in quantum phases of Kagome magnets.
