solids4Foam Tutorial Case: Flexible Dam Break (CFD Simulation Results)

This dataset corresponds to the FlexibleDamBreak tutorial case from solids4Foam. The case represents a multiphase dam-break flow interacting with a deformable elastic structure, serving as a benchmark problem for fluid–structure interaction (FSI) involving free-surface dynamics. It captures the coupling between the transient motion of the water column and the structural response of a flexible barrier, where hydrodynamic forces induce deformation, and the evolving structure in turn influences the flow field. This dataset includes results from three simulation cases with different structural stiffness values, enabling direct comparison of how material properties affect the fluid–structure interaction behaviour. Such configurations are representative of real-world engineering and scientific applications, including coastal and flood defence systems, wave–structure interaction, flexible barriers, and impact loading on compliant structures. The dataset can also support studies on multiphase flow dynamics, structural response sensitivity, and validation of FSI modelling approaches. A comparison video is included to visualise the differences between the three stiffness cases, providing a clear and intuitive representation of the coupled fluid–structure dynamics over time. This dataset contains CFD simulation results provided in OpenFOAM format, suitable for direct use in ParaView. The data can be used for visualisation, post-processing, training, and benchmarking purposes.
