INHILLDAUGAR database. A linguistically, historically and partially archeologically annotated database of place names along the Daugava River

This is the full dataset for the INHILLDAUGAR database of linguistically, historically and partially archeologically analysed place names along the Daugava River in Latvia. In addition to the downloadable full version in CSV and XLSX format, we also provide a more accessible abbreviated version with a search interface for technically less skilled users: https://www.uni-potsdam.de/de/slavische-linguistik/corpora-databases (in Kalniņš et al. 2025). The database emerged from the joint German-Polish research project “Interdisciplinary Hillfort Studies at the Daugava River: Merging and Decoding Archaeological, Environmental and Linguistic Data” (INHILLDAUGAR), which combines archaeological and linguistic approaches to study prehistory of the area along the Daugava River. The database confines its scope to two kilometres from either riverbank.
