Ethics Certificate Number: 2024FEBEFREC-STD-35This research investigates the enhancement of LoRa-based Internet of Things (IoT) systems for Direct-to-Satellite (DtS) communication, addressing the limitations of terrestrial LoRa networks, particularly in remote and infrastructure-constrained areas. The study focuses on developing a novel Ambient Energy Management (AEM) system to enable energy harvesting, crucial for powering LoRa IoT devices in this demanding environment. It explores the interplay between duty cycle, signal design, and energy harvesting techniques to optimize energy efficiency. The primary aim is to extend system lifespan and broaden the applicability of LoRa IoT in global coverage scenarios, while adhering to regional regulatory standards such as those set by ICASA. This work contributes to the field by introducing innovative algorithms and insights into managing harvested energy for satellite communication, ultimately fostering the development of energy-autonomous IoT systems.<br>
