The data analysed the participants' needs, knowledge and willingness towards vegetable gardens and traditional African vegetables. It also analyses the availability and lack of open spaces in the informal settlement and its surroundings. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews where open ended questions was asked. The semi-structured interviews was held in focus groups at the Melusi Youth Development organisations and seven out of the eight Early Childhood Development centres located in Melusi. The findings showed that the participants have alot of interest in growing not only their own vegetables and TAVs but also starting a community garden. They have also show some basic level of knowledge for TAVs.
本研究分析了参与者对于蔬菜园及传统非洲蔬菜的需求、认知与意愿。同时,还对非正式定居点及其周边地区的开放空间的可获得性和缺乏进行了分析。数据通过半结构化访谈收集,访谈中提出了开放式问题。半结构化访谈在Melusi青年发展组织以及位于Melusi的八家早期儿童发展中心中的七家进行了分组讨论。研究发现,参与者对种植自用蔬菜及传统非洲蔬菜表现出浓厚兴趣,并有意向创建社区花园。此外,他们对传统非洲蔬菜也展现出一定程度的认知。
